How to Find the Best Soccer Camp

There are many different kinds of soccer camps, positional, team, youth, high school, college recruiting, technical skills, and just for fun camps. Choosing the right one can be confusing and difficult but it's important to pick the one that fits your child's needs if you want to get your money out of it.
Determine what kind of soccer camp your child needs based on their age, skill levels, or if they're college bound. The younger they are the more general the soccer camp should be. It's too early to determine a child's varsity and college positions when they're less than 12 years of age. You should send them to a camp that teaches and offer drills for all positions so they'll be ready if asked to change positions by the varsity coaches. Do you really want to spend thousands of dollars to teach your kid to play goalie then have the coach move them to midfield or attack and now your child can't handle the ball?
Positional camps are excellent values when your child is high school level or higher. These camps specialize on drills and skills for only one position. Their camp time isn't wasted on positions they wouldn't play. Also your child will be spending time with other coaches, players and kids that play the same position and can offer advice.
College soccer recruiting camps are the most sought after camps especially among high school players. These camps offer top level coaching and competition. Every parent dreams of their child getting offered a free scholarship to a good University. These camps offer dozens of college coaches either coaching the camps or watching your child play. You need to research each camp to see what coaches will be at attendance; usually the brochure or website lists the coaches that will be attending.
After you determine which type of camp is best for your child then it's time to find the best soccer camp. Start the process by asking your child's coaches which camps they would recommend and why. Next ask your child's friends and team parents which camps they have attended and will be attending this year. These personal recommendations are the best ones to get, others good and bad experiences are worth gold. Additionally you can do internet searches for soccer camps; they're lots of listing online but beware of websites that make recommendations. Lots of websites make money by directing traffic or registrations to specific soccer camps. Don't believe any recommendation that includes a direct link to the camps registration page! Any recommendation that is decorated with ads for the camps should also be doubted. Again the best recommendations are from coaches, friends, team players, and competing schools. Ask your high school rivals for camp recommendations.
Doing your homework on finding the best soccer camp is vastly important. Soccer camps can vastly improve your child's soccer skills and improve their game. Watching your child score the winning goal or winning that Div 1 Scholarship would make your investment in soccer camps payoff.
